Chisinau International Airport
Please make sure you bring comfortable tracking shoes, as the tour involves a lot of walking.
It is also advised to bring umbrellas, and any snacks that could be a source of extra energy during the hikes and long walks.
After your landing in Chisinau International Airport, you will be picked up from the airport and transferred to the hotel where you will have time tor est, have a lunch/dinner and prepare for the tour that starts the fallowing day.
The day will start with the transfer to Donici Museum located in a small village, from where the trip will continue through a beautiful forest-National Park Orhei. The trail ends at Curchi Monastery- one of the oldest monasteries, which has the title “One of the most beautiful Bessarabian architecture”.
After the lunch at a Winery nearby, you will end your day with a visit and an excursion at Cricova Underground Wine Cellars.
After the transfer to Furceni village we start the hiking from Furceni to Butuceni village along the Raut river. Enjoy the beautiful view of the hill terrain in Old Orhei region. Enjoy the site of rural life entangled with green nature. Here is also the habitat of some birds and rodents included in the Red Book of Moldova, you’ll get real lucky if you spot some of them!
During the lunch time you will participate in masterclass of “placinta” (national cheese pie) and also get to enjoy it next the rest of the rustic dishes.Continue the trip with a hike to the cave monastery at Orhei Vechi, carved in limestone rock which is apart of the picturesque landscape. Visit also the house-museum of traditional life of Moldavian farmers (19 century) in the village Butuceni.
The day will start early with a long ride towards the northern part of Moldova. First stop will be Old Duruitoarea Rocky Region. As a result of the archaeological excavations, here were discovered petrifications from the ice age and remnants of an ancient civilization, which made it known throughout the world. Climb up to the cave near the village- which is a former human settlement from the lower Paleolithic period. The fact that this was a natural shelter of prehistoric man brought him to the internationally renowned cave. After that, take a walk to the top cliff of the Duruitorea Defile, admiring the village on one side and the vineyards on the other side, and then walk down to the waterfall called “Duruita”.
After lunch at a Camping site, continue to the nature monument “One hundred mounds”. It is the only place in Europe, where the sediments of the ancient great seas are concentrated. According to one version, this relief formed 10-20 million years ago. The tracking will continue in the region of Cobani village towards Butesti Hills. The walk is along the river with a few higher points to climb on foot. There will also be a stop at Butesti cave, which from a certain point of view, reminds an elephant.
Finish your day with the check-in at a hotel in Balti city.
Another amazing day starts with transfer to Trinca village, from where the beautiful 2 hours hike begins. At the beginning make a visit to the old well remained from our ancestors, which is located at the edge of the village. After that, begin your hike through the Trinca Gorge is a geological or paleontological nature monument in the district of Edinet. This gorge was formed following the action of the Draghiște river on the Badenian-Volhinian limestone reef.
Enjoy a picnic on the hill, surrounded by nature.Continue with tracking through Brinzeni gorge near the village stretches along the bank of another river – Racovăţ, which flows through several monuments of the nature of the same district – “La castel”. On the other side of the river crossing the pass, you will see a cave (unnaccessible for now), in which local villagers where hiding their goods years ago, when the flooding of the region was announced. Also, you will see the remains of the old water mill, that nowadays was left totally to the power of nature, being overgrown by plants.
After the check-out, we ride from Balti to Transnistria region. We arrive there just in time for the lunch, after which we go exploring Tiraspol city on foot. You will see the monument of Lenin, the tanks from last world war, and many other sovietic structures that will make sure to transport you back in time.
Last stop for the day is Bender Fortress. A beautiful construction which holds a large history. Here you will hear the story of turks, and Charles XII who fled here. Now the territory is occupied by Russian Army. On its territory you will find a small museum as well as the Torture Room.
