The Cricova, Bender Fortress & Tiraspol Tour offers an exceptional one-day journey through Moldova’s historical and cultural gems. Starting in Chișinău, we head south to the Bender Fortress, a medieval stronghold originally built by Stephen the Great and later expanded by the Ottomans in the 16th century. Here, you’ll explore the fortress’s interior, its defensive walls, and bastions, learning about the siege by Peter the Great and the refuge of King Charles XII after the Battle of Poltava. Afterward, we’ll enjoy a traditional lunch in a local restaurant, tasting Gagauz dishes and local wines. Our next stop is Tiraspol, the capital of the breakaway region of Transnistria. Explore the city’s Soviet-era architecture, visit Suvorov Square, the War Memorial, and see the iconic T-34 tank. The day ends with a visit to a local café, where you’ll experience the atmosphere of Tiraspol and perhaps even use the Transnistrian ruble, a souvenir from this unique region.
