IA MANIA 2026 – Returning to Our Roots

On July 5, 2026, the 12th edition of IA MANIA will take place, one of Moldova’s most renowned cultural festivals dedicated to preserving and celebrating national traditions, craftsmanship and cultural heritage.

The theme of this year’s edition, “Returning to Our Roots,” highlights the importance of reconnecting with authentic values, traditional knowledge and the cultural identity that has shaped Moldova for generations.

Held in the picturesque village of Holercani on the banks of the Dniester River, the festival brings together artisans, craftspeople, artists and local communities who contribute to preserving and promoting Moldova’s cultural legacy.

Traditional Crafts and Artisan Fair

The Crafts and Artisan Fair is one of the festival’s main attractions, featuring handmade embroidered blouses, traditional ceramics, woven carpets, decorative items and contemporary creations inspired by Moldovan folk motifs.

Traditional Sewing Gatherings and the Altiță Blouse

Six traditional sewing gatherings offer visitors the opportunity to learn about authentic embroidery techniques, the symbolism of traditional patterns and the creation of the iconic altiță blouse, an important element of regional cultural heritage.

Traditional Moldovan Cuisine

Local households from the Dubăsari region showcase authentic Moldovan gastronomy through traditional dishes such as stuffed cabbage rolls, pies, freshly baked bread, homemade desserts and regional beverages.

Folk Art and Cultural Heritage

The festival program includes the mural painting competition “Green Horses on the Walls”, promoting creativity inspired by traditional art. Visitors can also enjoy a parade of traditional costumes showcasing the diversity and beauty of Moldovan folk attire.

Activities for Children

A dedicated children's area offers pottery workshops, woodworking activities and traditional wooden games, providing an engaging way for younger generations to discover Moldovan culture and traditions.

Live Concert by the Dniester River

The festival atmosphere is completed by a live concert held outdoors on the banks of the Dniester River, creating a memorable cultural experience in one of Moldova’s most scenic locations.

IA MANIA remains one of Moldova’s most important cultural festivals, celebrating traditions, craftsmanship, local communities and the enduring spirit of Moldovan heritage.
