Now if we were to talk about the natural riches of the Republic of Moldova, you probably would need a lifetime to thoroughly discover each place, but some of the most landscape places remain:
1. “Bălăneşti Hill” – the highest point of the Republic of Moldova, located near the village of Bălăneşti, in the Nisporeni district. Also known as Miron’s pool, the hill reaches an altitude of 430 m and is a place loved by tourists, thanks to the panoramas that offer them at its top.
2. “Prutul de Jos” Reserve – a true eco-scientific laboratory, located in the southwest of the country, at the foot of the Prut River, in the Cahul district. Also called the little Delta of Moldova, the reserve impresses with the flora and fauna hosted by Belleau Lake, with a lot of endangered plants, and rare birds, but also other tourist attractions, where visitors can discover the traditions, culture, and hospitality of the Moldovan people.
– Tourists from all over the world are attracted to the natural Reserve “Prut de Jos”, as they have the opportunity to meet the famous Boonika and Boonel, known in 2005 at the Eurovision International Competition, being protagonists in the song “Grandma Bat Toba”. This good beauty, both in face and soul, welcome anyone who steps on the threshold of their home with a glass of Moldovan wine, pies, and soulful discussions.
– Visitors can also discover the “Golden Hills” of Valeni, where amazing trenches dating back thousands of years, as well as charming hills, from the top of which unspeakable landscapes are opened.
– “Bread Museum” – the place where every guest will be greeted with bread and salt, as Moldovans do. The museum has various bread-baking workshops, theatrical presentations of wedding fragments, ancient objects used in village households, but also traditional dishes.
– And if you want to teleport yourself in time and to know the old life, traditions, and customs of Moldovans, then surely you have to go to the “Dorului House”. The house museum is arranged in the style of the 19th century and has 3 rooms: the large house, the dwelling house, and the kitchen, where you can see folk costumes dating back more than 100 years, traditional woven carpets, and various wooden and work tools used by peasants for domestic activities.
3. The cultural-natural complex “Orheiul Vechi” – a legendary and fascinating reservation, full of mystery and authentic locations. Located right in the Orhei district, in the Raut Valley, on the territory of Trebujeni commune, this complex impresses hundreds of thousands of visitors with its undisputed beautiful landscapes, unique architecture, and local traditional cuisine.
The most loved and visited points in this location remain:
– The Church “Nativity of the Mother of God” – the holy place, that dates back to the fifteenth and sixteenth centuries, when instead of the present church, there was a humble wooden church. The monastery is closely connected to the cave hermitage “Cave”, and after the establishment of the Soviet regime, the church “Nativity of the Mother of God”, as well as the cave hermitage “Assumption of the Virgin”, was transformed into an open-air museum. Here visitors can admire unique paintings and icons, but also attend the service.
– The Hermitage “Cave” – a truly historical place where visitors can explore the church, 11 monastic cells, which were dug in the river bank during the 15th century, but also the stone cross and a bell tower dating back to the 18th century.
– The Monastery of “Pârcalabului Bosie” – an ethnocultural complex, composed of the cave church and 9 monastic cells, located 25 m high, dating back to the 17th century. This place impresses with the 9 cells of the church, in which were arranged: Stone beds, unique windows, but also medieval inscriptions, written with Cyrillic script in Romanian and Slavonic languages, being a true ancient wealth preserved in the territory of the Republic of Moldova. The complex was founded by the chief of Orhei Bosie, who also left a founding inscription inside the church in 1665.
– The Museum “Village House” – a typical peasant household, dating from the 19th-20th century and reflecting the lives of the inhabitants of the village Butuceni and the traditions of the Moldovan people. Inside the household, visitors can discover the house itself, the cellar – where the drinks and supplies for the winter were kept, the “basca” – which served as a dwelling during the summer, the mill – an instrument used in grinding cereals, the “loznil”– an oven used in drying fruit, but also other elements specific to the village life. This house museum shows the authenticity of rural living, without being influenced by any modern technologies.
4. The natural Reserve “the Royal Forest” – is a true forest treasure of the Republic of Moldova, founded in 1993, in the middle of Prut valley. This protected area is considered to be the oldest forest in Europe and includes hills of unknown origin, diverse and rich flora and fauna, as well as ancient archaeological and geological monuments. The fauna of the reserve includes different species of birds, deer, horses, donkeys, and bison. Here the guests have the unique opportunity to visit “Zimbraria”, where until now live four bison born in our country, whose presence is felt, even if some people consider them dangerous and fierce animals, they are still in places funny and gentle. As for the flora, about six hundred species of plants can be observed here, including secular oaks, which fascinate 200-300 years ago.
5. “Duruitoarea Veche” Gorge – one of the most visited locations of the Republic of Moldova and the only place in our country, where tourists from all over the world found that you can see the mountains and the sea. Located in the east, exactly at the village of Duruitoarea, Râşcani district – where visitors from all over the world prefer to install tents or come with motorways and camping, as the location conquers with caves and limestone grottos, steep rocks and blue waters of the “Costesti-Stinca” reservoir.
