Every year, the number of events and festivals in the Republic of Moldova is increasing, having either specific: Historical, musical, gastronomic, wine, or filmographic, this has turned into a tourist attraction, gathering an ever-growing audience.
Thus, the most famous and expected festivals, which gather millions of visitors annually, remain to be:
1. The gastronomic ethnic festival “Bostaniada” – an event that abounds in the autumn colors, at which all enthusiasts of live music, gastronomy, and traditional wine, handicraft fairs of folk craftsmen, but also sculptures and exhibitions from the largest and funniest pumpkins are expected. The festival takes place annually on the shore of Bălăbănești Lake, in the Criuleni district, for a duration of 2 days, at the end of September, aiming to promote the autumn fruits, culture, and quality of traditional dishes.
2. National Wine Day – an annual tradition that takes place on October 1-2, right in the heart of Chisinau, in the Great National Assembly Square. The celebration is organized on the occasion of celebrating the national wines, which make us famous all over the world and to capitalize on the hard work of Moldovan winemakers and winemakers. Every year, lovers of good and authentic wines are present, both from the country and abroad, and besides tastings and traditional dishes cooked on the spot, visitors can also attend various handicraft workshops, master classes and an artistic program supported by artists from the country.
3. The “sweetest” gastronomic festival – a sweet culinary tradition, which takes place on the eve of the International children’s Day, on May 31. Dedicated to all children, but also to sweet lovers, the event is organized annually in order to celebrate the beginning of the summer holiday for the little ones, but also to pay tribute to the traditional recipes of local and international desserts. Fun to the fullest, various contests, color explosion and culinary workshops will fascinate not only children, but also adults.
4. The classical music festival “discover” – an exceptional event, with live classical music, performed on an improvised stage, right in the nature, at the foot of the rocks from the Orheiul Vechi Reserve. The event takes place in June, for a duration of 2 days, where guests have a sunny weather, a charming view and a musical show attended by opera artists from the Republic of Moldova, under the leadership of Austrian conductor Friedrich Pfeiffer.
5. The traditional Port Festival “IA Mania” – an event that takes place in July, organized on the bank of the Dniester River, in Holercani village. Those who want to know the traditions and culture of Moldovans are invited, as the festival encourages traditional music and dance, artisans who keep the tradition of hand embroidery, but also kitchens that cook authentically and delight visitors with local recipes. Besides all, during the event, there are a lot of workshops and contests, among which the young designers contest “Pride” – where the traditional clothing collections are presented.
